The home of the most famous sparkling wine in the world, whose region carries the same name - Champagne lies just to the east of Paris. The area is one of France's most important historical provinces, with a long and rich agricultural tradition. With its gently undulating hills, fairy-tale villages, and unique eco-gastronomic culture, the Champagne region is the ideal getaway where you can genuinely feel a connection to the land, the wine, and its people. The region's central city is charming Reims, founded in Roman times and home to one of the most beautiful cathedrals in France. It is here where the French emperors were crowned. From an ecological point of view, the crown of Champagne is divided between Reims and Epernay, the other "capital" of this famous sparkling wine. Both areas have incredible underground cellars and fantastic wine bars where you can taste this exquisite bubbly beverage that is a pillar in the history of the wine world. Your exquisite trip to the region would not be complete without visiting the surrounding countryside covered with superbly organized rows of vines and crossed by the Marne river, adding a fairy-tale atmosphere to the landscape. As you explore the area, you can taste Champagne at a number of small boutique wineries, stroll through the quaint village of Hautvillers, and visit the abbey of Dom Pérignon, where legend has it that they first created this delicacy.
