Appreciated by gourmet lovers and wine connoisseurs alike, Burgundy will delight those who are passionate about nature as well as architecture! The town offers something for everyone! Renowned worldwide for its prestigious wine, Burgundy is considered the holy land for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Both varieties artfully pair together with the delicious local cuisine. This beautiful rural region of France will take you through peaceful hedged farmlands, vast expanses of vineyards, mysterious forests, fresh rivers, and lakes on a journey through a unique and magical atmosphere. Built heritage can be seen all over Burgundy, such as in the castles of Ancy-le-Franc, Bazoches, Cormatin and Tanlay, the prestigious Abbeys of Cluny, Fontenay and Pontigny; and in cities of art and history like Auxerre, Chalon-sur-Saône, Dijon and Nevers. The famous Hospices of Beaune and the majestic basilica in Vezelay, a World Heritage site, also contribute layers to its rich history and diverse heritage, making Burgundy home to endless treasures! The charming town of Beaune is considered the actual capital of Burgundy wine. Surrounded by old stone ramparts, it is the center for the Burgundy wine trade, as seen by the highly acclaimed auctions at the Hospice de Beaune every third Sunday in November. The historical old town contains remarkable monuments and beautiful Renaissance buildings mixed with quaint, half-timbered houses with charming inner courtyards. Beaune is one of France’s authentic, precious gems, just waiting to be discovered!
